Booking at an ABRSM Jazz Visit – step-by-step guide

A step-by-step guide covering everything from booking exams to receiving results.

  1. Create your account if you don’t have one already.
  2. Check booking periods and exam sessions
  3. When the booking period opens, check our ABRSM Jazz Visit venues and exam dates, choose your visit and make a note of the venue code.
  4. Have all your candidate information ready:
  1. Log in to your account and select ‘Private Visit’.
  2. Enter your venue code and select the visit.
  3. Enter your candidate and exam details, including any access requirements or reasonable adjustments and any alternative ‘presented by’ names.
  4. Check you booking summary and pay for your exams.
  5. We will send you an email to confirm your booking and payment.

Make sure all details are correct before confirming and paying for your exams.

  • Appointment confirmation – 28 days before the visit date we email applicants (and candidates with an account) to let them know that they can log in to view their confirmed exam appointments, including times.
  • Rescheduling – you won’t be able to reschedule a Jazz exam once it’s been booked. However, you can cancel an exam up to 28 days before the date of the exam and receive a full refund. You may then be able to make another booking (or late booking) at an alternative ABRSM Jazz Visit if space is available.
  • Cancelling an exam – applicants can cancel an exam through their account. If you cancel up to 28 days before the date of the exam, we will refund the full fee. Find out about cancelling exams.
  • Amending a booking - you can make some small changes after you’ve paid for the booking. Find out about amending candidate details.
  • Results and certificates - we email applicants when results are ready to view online. This is usually within a week of the exam for Jazz Practical Grades, subject to quality assurance checks.

Candidates with an account will also receive a results email seven days after the applicant.

We send certificates to the applicant by post. Find out about results and certificates.

  • Appeals and feedback – our policies and guidance for appealing results or sending feedback are available here.
