For exams taken in 2019, exam results are published online approximately three weeks after your examination date. Once the marks are available online we send an email to the person who made the exam entry. The certificate and mark form will then follow in the post to the same person – the person who made the exam entry about 10 working days after the online results are published.
While we aim to issue results as quickly as possible, we want to make sure that we’re providing the best standard of exam and some results may be delayed for additional monitoring and checks.
Practical exam results (graded exams and ARSM) from 2020
All practical exam candidates receive a mark form giving a breakdown of the marks awarded for each section of the exam along with comments from the examiner. Candidates who pass their exam also receive a certificate.
We will email applicants, and candidates (parents/carers) who have an account, when their exam results and mark forms are available to view online. For applicants, this will usually be within a week of the exam date, subject to our quality assurance checks. For candidates (parents/carers) with an account, this will be seven days after we have released results to the applicant.
Practical mark forms will be available online as PDFs, which are clear to read and easy to download, save, forward and print. We will send printed certificates to the applicant by post, usually within a week of releasing results to the applicant.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to pass mark forms and certificates to the candidate.

Prep Test and Performance Assessment
There are no marks are awarded for these assessments. Instead, examiners write certificates giving comments during the exam and hand these to performers at the end of their assessment.
Diplomas - DipABRSM, LRSM, FRSM
All diploma candidates receive a paper mark form giving a breakdown of the marks awarded for each section of the exam, along with comments from the examiner. Candidates who pass their exam also receive a certificate. Before issuing, we send all diploma results and mark forms for review and ratification by our diploma committees. This process is a vital part of our quality assurance procedure and may take up to three months. Once we have ratified a result, we will post the mark form and certificate to the applicant.
Successful candidates will receive a medal, a certificate and a commentary on their performance. Candidates with a Working Towards result receive a commentary only. As soon as we have completed our moderation process, we will send the applicant an email confirming that overall results are available online. We then send medals, certificates and commentaries by post. If you are a named Teacher-Assessor, Music Medals Coordinator or Music Medals Partner, you also have access to statistics on your candidates' performances. You can access these on the Music Medals entries and results website.

- Audio recording happens automatically and will not disturb or interrupt the exam in any way.
- Recordings are for internal use only so won’t be available to applicants or candidates.
